CALIPER REFURBISHMENT

After tens of thousands of miles, your calipers accumulate large deposits of brake dust; which over time embeds itself into the clear coat thus making them harder and harder to shine after each maintenance wash. In addition, any decals may have peeled off resulting in an old, worn our appearance.

IT’S THE LITTLE THINIGS

Small customisations to your vehicle can make a huge difference.

Description

After tens of thousands of miles, your calipers accumulate large deposits of brake dust; which over time embeds itself into the clear coat thus making them harder and harder to shine after each maintenance wash. In addition, any decals may have peeled off resulting in an old, worn our appearance.

So why not give them a second wind? We first start by sanding away the previous paintwork, then target areas which may not be level due to corrosion and general wear and tear. The grit is then slowly increased, to smoothen out the surface. It is then wiped down with IPA to ensure no contaminants such as grease and oils are left over, and is then carefully coated in a colour of your choice. Several coats later, any decals are then applied and is then topped off with a shiny clear coat to make them pop even more.

Do you remove the callipers?

When painting your callipers, we do not remove them from the break disk. This is because we don’t use any type of aerosol paint, so there is no risk of overspray (no masking is required).

Do you powder coat them?

As previously mentioned, no form of aerosol is used – this included powder coating. Instead, we use a specialised high temperature resistant self-levelling paint, which is applied with a thin detailing paint brush. This way, we have greater control over what does, and does not get painted, and the self-levelling benefits of the paint results in a smooth, stroke free finish much like an aerosol type application would have – just without the mess.

Can you apply decals?

Yes! Simply let us know what type you’re wanting, and we’ll apply and protect the decals from peeling off.

How long does it take?

It takes about 1 day to fully prepare and paint your callipers.
