MIRROR-LIKE FINISH

Ceramic Coatings enhance the gloss levels, turning your car into a mirror.

Description

Ceramic Coatings, also known as Glass Coatings, offer by far the most protection for your paintwork, increasing both the hardness and hydrophobicity of your car. Gone are the days of Waxes and cheap paint sealants, Ceramic Coatings offer longer lasting protection with increased gloss levels.

As Ceramic Coatings forms a uniform layer over your paintwork, and fills in any voids or gaps in your clearcoat, the surface must be completely decontaminated; free of swirls and paint defects. Therefore, it is advised that your car is completely machine polished to ensure the coating properly adheres to the paintwork. We advise combining both our Machine Polishing package, with our Ceramic Coating package for the upmost correction and protection for your car.

However, if your paintwork has already been prepped elsewhere, we can then apply the ceramic. A pre-inspection of the paintwork must be carried out to ensure it is in a viable condition to receive the coating.

Here at All Detailed Up, we are certified installers of both Wax Is Dead and Ultimaxx. This allows us to apply the perfect coating onto your car. Body panels, glass, brake calipers, exhaust tips; you name it – we have the coating for the job.

Whilst Ceramic Coatings offer increase hardness and additional gloss levels, it also gives your paintwork hydrophobic beading and sheeting properties. Water will form tiny little droplets and fall straight off your car, resulting in less water spotting and cleaner looking surfaces. Additionally, this makes maintenance washes much easier as dirt is more easily washed off.

What is a Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coatings are extremely durable vehicle protection systems. Depending on the coating used they are suitable for use on paintwork, exhausts, callipers, wheels, glass, plastic trim and PPF. The coating is applied in a liquid form and cures to a hard layer on top of the paint. The coating is composed of silicon dioxide (Sio2) and a hardening agent, which creates unparalleled hydrophobic properties.

It’s a good investment to permanently protect the exterior from deteriorating prematurely and maintain a higher resale value. Less maintenance due to the slickness of the coating won’t allow dirt, brake dust and road tar to stick to your paint, wheels or glass nearly as much making cleaning your vehicle a much more enjoyable and effortless process. Not to mention you will see ultimate gloss and colour depth not comparable to anything else. Properly maintained vehicles will shine like new for many years to come.

What’s the difference between a Wax and a Ceramic Coating?

Due to the bonding and hardening process of Ceramic Coatings, it’s much more durable than a wax sealant, allowing it to resist heat, UV rays, environmental contaminants and extremely harsh detergents – whilst creating unparalleled hydrophobic properties due to the Sio2 infused to the paintwork. The chemical bonding differs from coating to coating, but they can last anywhere from 1 to 10 years depending on the brand. As a wax just sits on top of the paintwork, it can easily be washed off with chemicals or quickly lose its hydrophobic properties.

How long does a Ceramic Coating last?

Ceramic Coatings can last anywhere between 1 and 10 years – this depends on the coating you choose, but we can supply a range of coatings to suit your requirements.

How long do you need my vehicle for?

As your vehicle requires machine polishing, to create the perfect bonding surface, we will need your car for at least 3-4 days as a minimum. Additional time will be required depending on your vehicle and the coating selected – an exact timeframe can be given when booking in your car.

Is my car protected from scratches once coated?

Whilst a Ceramic Coating offers a 9H hardness layer over the paintwork, this does not protect the paint from scratches and swirls. Safe washing techniques must be implemented to reduce the chances of swirl marks, but stone chips and scrapes will still penetrate through the coating.

Will I need to wash my car again?

A Ceramic Coating doesn’t completely stop dirt from settling on the paint, but it does help it keep cleaner for longer. The hydrophobic properties of Sio2 will repel dirt and water, but eventual build up is inevitable. However, maintenance washes will be extremely enjoyable as contaminants will fall right off with little contact as dirt sits on top of the coating itself.

Can I wash my vehicle like normal?

Safe washing techniques are required to prolong the performance of the coating, and to minimise the potential for swirl marks. So, if your normal car wash includes a 2-bucket micro fibre wash, then yes! Carry on like normal. If not, please speak to us to find out exactly what you should or should not do once your car has been ceramic coated.

How should I maintain the coating?

Any car should be washed using a safe 2 bucket washing technique; however, Ceramic Coated cars would benefit from using specially designed Sio2 infused shampoos and quick detailers. These products help boost the coating that has bonded to the paint, and also maintains the glossy wet look we all know and love.

Whilst these products are not essential, it is advised to use them as the coating can be prolonged. We advise a Ceramic Coating Maintenance Wash from ourselves every 6 months, so we can check up on the coating, and remove any embedded iron and tar build up to restore any lost hydrophobicity.
